Bank of New Zealand Begins Rollout of Commander

Published on April 17, 2009.

BNZ has completed a project to pilot Phoenix's CommanderTM Asset Management solution. The initiative, which kicked off in September 2008, was a joint effort between the Bank and Phoenix to validate and enhance the beta release of the product. Having achieved the target objectives, the Bank has moved quickly to complete rollout across their ATM estate with the latest production release of CommanderTM.

In 2001, BNZ was the first ATM deployer globally to realize the benefits of true multi-vendor ATM software when the Bank completed the rollout of Phoenix's VISTAatmTM, a single application on both NCR and Diebold ATMs.

The Bank subsequently licensed Phoenix's Developer WorkbenchTM and rapidly became Phoenix's most accomplished and self-sufficient user of the toolkit adding new functionality and enhancing the customer experience on a regular basis.

BNZ has achieved unparalled competitive advantage in the New Zealand marketplace and continues to build upon the advantages delivered via the partnership with Phoenix. The introduction of CommanderTM is yet another example of the Bank's forward thinking, recognition of step change opportunities and ability to be first to market with solutions that provide a distinct competitive advantage.

BNZ recognized that outdated, legacy tools cannot keep up with the dynamic smart client environment.

Without CommanderTM, information is filtered through the switch and is sitting at multiple touch points. Identifying and analyzing trend was a manual, time consuming process and prone to error. Identifying the true configuration of an ATM for troubleshooting or planning new functionality required a costly site visit.

CommanderTM provides BNZ with centralized control and real-time, accurate asset knowledge, streamlining processes, increasing operational efficiency and the opportunity to dramatically reduce costs and maximize availability.

Paul Johnson, BNZ Channel Manager, commented "BNZ continues to place a high priority on both ATM availability and innovation for our customers. We anticipate the rollout of CommanderTM". will assist the bank in delivering on both these objectives."

Brad Evans, General Manager Phoenix Interactive (and BNZ's relationship manager) said "Phoenix could not be more pleased that our partnership with BNZ, which began more than a decade ago, continues to provide world class opportunities for both our organizations. Now that the CommanderTM implementation is complete, we simply look forward to our next ground-breaking and rewarding activities together!"
