TD Canada Trust Green Machines just got greener!
Published on October 24, 2008.TD Canada Trust has made another significant move in industry-leading innovation. The "Green Machine" Automated Banking Machine, first introduced 31 years ago, has gone to green power in an agreement with Bullfrog Power and the Pembina Institute. TD has been making a difference in the environment for many years, raising funds for environmental and wildlife projects (TD Friends of the Environment) and supporting the cleanup up of our shorelines (TD Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup). Now, they are taking "green" to a whole new level as a corporate leader in the fight against climate change. TD is buying electricity from emissions-free wind and low-impact hydroelectric power generators to match the power used by the Green Machine ABM Network across Canada.
Tim Hockey, President and CEO of Canada Trust explains:
"When we saw the chance to power our Green Machines with green electricity, it was such a perfect fit that it was a simple decision. It's a natural extension of our brand."

TD is not only an exemplary corporate citizen but also a leader in ABM technology and customer service excellence. The Green Machine network underwent a complete transformation in 2006 with the move to new advanced technology under the leadership of the Hewlett Packard Canada consortium. Phoenix was proud to be a key player as the provider of the ABM software and instrumental in the delivery of an improved customer experience, including the introduction of optional and consolidated receipts to reduce litter and save paper.
"As a long-term partner of TD Canada Trust we continuously acknowledge the leadership that this bank provides in the community and in the retail banking industry," commented Kyle MacDonald, CEO Phoenix Interactive Design. "We congratulate TD on once again making a tangible difference as corporate citizens, this time, by contributing to the fight against climate change with their commitment to reducing energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions."
