Phoenix Briefs ATMIA Attendees on the Emerging IFX Standard

Phoenix Interactive Design's Scott Anderson presented at the 2005 ATMIA Canadian Conference discussing the emerging open industry standard IFX messaging protocol. The conference held in Toronto, Ontario, was organized to provide information about current ATM hot issues.

Mr. Anderson tied the IFX presentation with the decision by TD Canada Trust, a major Canadian bank with a network of 2400 ATMs, to outsource its ATM and POS operations to a Hewlett-Packard consortium of best-in-class ATM companies including Phoenix Interactive. Through the outsourcing initiative, TD Canada Trust will be the first Bank to use a complete and robust IFX implementation in a live production environment.

The flexibility of Phoenix's ATM terminal software, VISTAatm, will play a major roll in transitioning TD Canada Trust's network from 473x messaging protocol on SNA to IFX messaging protocol on TCP/IP. Anderson later indicated that IFX will become the standard messaging protocol of the ATM channel in the near future. "The question is no longer 'If', but 'When'" commented Anderson.
