Self-Service Software
Since 1987, Phoenix has been a leading provider of innovative self-service software solutions, primarily for the financial services industry. We are a solutions-driven company with hundreds of applications delivered to date for clients around the world.

Our experience with industry-leading financial institutions and multiple hardware platforms culminated in 2000 with the launch of VISTAatm, our Windows based multi-vendor ATM Terminal Software solution. It was the first single run-time solution in the world to be successfully fully deployed on multiple hardware vendor platforms. And we continue to be an industry leader:
  • First true multi-vendor deployment
  • First web-enabled ATM
  • First large scale IFX deployment
Over the past twenty years, we have seen a significant shift in the retail banking industry from branch services to self-service interactions. This shift continues at a rapid pace and the generational shift virtually guarantees that consumers will continue rapid adoption of self-service banking options like ATMs and Internet Banking that are personalized, highly functional, available 24x7 and do not require human interaction. ATMs are currently the most preferred self-service channel of most consumers.

"The ATM network is the most prevalent self service channel comprising 38% of the estimated 38 billion self service consumer banking transactions in the US in 2006"
Tower Group study "The Rise of Self Service Transaction Volumes
in US Retail Banking by Channel (2001-2120E)"

"Banks that fail to pay attention to such trends risk losing out to a young tech-savvy demographic with both financial and non-financial features at strategically located self-service devices."

Unbundle hardware and software
The first 35 years of the ATM industry were dominated by proprietary devices from the hardware providers. Other than choosing a vendor, there weren't any choices. Today, with the ATM manufacturers now utilizing PC-based hardware components and adopting the Windows operating system and XFS standards, ATM hardware is now a commodity.

By choosing an open, multi-vendor ATM application, hardware prices can be separated from software and sourced using the same competitive bidding processes that are used for servers, PCs and teller equipment. Banks have reported savings on procurement of hardware and service contracts of as much as 20% by implementing open application software and soliciting competitive hardware bids.
